Interracial Couple Celebrates 25 Years of Marriage

Written by Charmaine Davis

Mark and Charmaine Davis said, "I still do," on Saturday, July 29, 2017, twenty-five years ago to the day when they first said, "I do." The happy couple renewed their vows in front of family and friends at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg, Virginia with Pastor David Etheridge officiating.

Reverend Ben Owen, friend and neighbor, read:

"Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it...
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one's youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them.
They shall not be ashamed
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate."
Psalm 127:1, 3, 4 and 5.

There wasn't a dry eye in the church when Charmaine's cousin, Sharon Fay Monroe, sung "When God Made You" by Nathalie Grant and Newsong.

They spent their second honeymoon at Acorn Hill Lodge and Spa in Lynchburg, Virginia, a place Mark describes as a "well-kept secret."

Mark and Charmaine have four sons, three daughters, a daughter-in-law and one grandchild.
